Meet Up With Our Techs: Brianna Fernando
The techs at Firestone Complete Auto Treatment are dedicated to maintaining your car on the road-but why is them tick when they’re off the clock? We sat straight down with Maintenance Tech, Brianna Fernando to listen to how she was got by her start and see what keeps her going.
How did you enter cars?
Brianna: I visited a high college that had a couple of trade electives. I made a decision to take auto store because it was an excellent skill to know-perform your personal oil change, things like that. I finished up falling deeply in love with it.
What do you like most about as an auto tech?
Brianna: I reach make use of my hands. And it entails thinking-taking something that’s damaged or faulty and repairing it. My objective is to always consider something and make it much better than what it was to arrive. It’s a craft.

Brianna: Yeah, that’s a funny thing. I was also the girl who knew how exactly to work on cars before they could be driven by me. And contrary to popular belief, when I got my permit first, I was scared to drive cars. I didn’t need to! So, for just two years, I was the lady that only fixed vehicles, I didn’t travel them.
What do you remember on the subject of your first car?
Brianna: It had been a ’99 Camaro and We named her Midnight since she was an extremely dark blue. It got T-tops-they no have them-but basically longer, it had been two moonroofs you'll take off and devote the trunk. It’s a combination between a convertible and a sunroof.
Today do you focus on your own car?
Brianna: Well, I've an older vehicle, therefore it’s got a lot of oil leakages and stuff-well, it had a complete lot of oil leaks. But I like cleaning it. I love making an engine appear new again.
How is focusing on someone else’s car different?
Brianna: I love it likewise. But it has even more of a purpose, I’m not doing it for myself just. I’m carrying it out for someone else, a person who doesn’t necessarily know very well what they’re performing on the vehicle. That rewarding is found by me.
How will you feel employed in a male-dominated industry?
Brianna: People love viewing a lady in a male-dominated market, you understand? They’re like, “Oh, a woman who wrenches?!” It’s an excellent feeling to learn that individuals are appreciating somebody stepping out from the package and doing something that isn't traditionally done. I am made by it feel great.
